Baldy
Mountain is
a year round recreation destination located near Oliver and Osoyoos,
British Columbia, Canada in the Okanagan Valley. The mountain
is, more popular in the winter season as a cross country, downhill
skiing and snowboarding destination. In the summer mountain biking
and hiking dominate the trails on the hill.
Baldy Mountain is ideal for skiers who enjoy
small line ups and crowds. The resort is a smaller recreation
site with a few selected amenities. It is not as commercial as
some of the bigger recreation hills in the Okanagan Valley.
The winter season on Baldy Mountain
brings out the skiers and snowboarders looking to ski and snowboard
hard and often. The mountain is equipped with lifts for transportation
up the hill like the Eagle double chair. The chair takes skiers
to the top of a 1500 vertical foot terrain. A T-bar on the hill
for beginner skiers provides 600 vertical feet of skiing fun and
plenty of wipe out room for the falls and spills.
The cottage and cabin accommodations
on Baldy Mountain are simple and close to the village of Baldy.
Skiers and snowboarders are close to the village so they can access
some of the village activities like attend the snow school, enjoy
a cup of coffee at the cafe, socialize at the lounge or gear up
at the rental and retail shops operating on the hill.
In the summer months people arrive
on the mountain to hike and mountain bike. Some also travel up
the hill to play a championship 18 hole frisbee golf course on
the mountain. A real treat!
Baldy Mountain is also a destination
for the snowshoe crowd as the mountain has over 20 kilometres
of trails to explore. The snowshoeing trails are groomed and well
maintained by a local nordic club.
